2027 Overseas Outstanding Young Scholars: DUT Invites Talents From Around the World

Project Introduction The Overseas Outstanding Young Scholars Fund aims to attract and encourage outstanding overseas young scholars (including international scholars) with high achievements in natural sciences, engineering technology, etc. to return (or come) to China and conduct innovative research in areas of their own choice. The program will promote the progression of young scholars and cultivate outstanding experts who will contribute to the construction of a powerful country in science and technology. II. Eligibility Requirements Abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, have good scientific ethics, and practice the spirit of scientists in the new era on their own initiative; Be born on or after January 1, 1987; Have a doctorate degree; The research interest is mainly natural science, engineering technology, etc.; The applicant should hold a regular teaching or scientific research position in an overseas university, scientific research institution, or corporate R&D institution. Till June 15, 2027, the applicant should have worked for more than 36 consecutive months in the institutions mentioned above. The requirements for the length of working can be appropriately relaxed for those who have obtained a doctorate degree overseas and have exceptional performance; Obtain scientific research or technology achievements recognized by peer experts, and have the potential to become academic leaders in the corresponding field; The applicant has not yet returned to China to work full-time, or returned (come) to China to work after January 1, 2026. After receiving the subsidy notice, the applicant must resign from the overseas institution and work full-time in China for no less than 3 years. (Refer to the terms and conditions for Overseas Outstanding Young Scholars in 2026, and subject to final program guidelines for 2027) Project requirements: According to the requirements of the relevant central government departments on the overall planning and coordination of the science and technology talent plans, the applicant can only undertake one project supported by the national science and technology talent program at the same level, and application in a reverse order is not allowed. III. Support Policies Career Development Successful candidates will be directly appointed as professors positions and will be granted qualification as a doctoral supervisor upon joining the University. The University provides internationally competitive remuneration. Candidates holding dual appointments with affiliated hospitals or external research institutes will receive additional salary supplements. The University provides matching research funding at a 1:1 ratio in accordance with the amount of national research funding provided. In addition, successful candidates will receive highly competitive start-up funding, access to world-class research platforms and instrumentation, sufficient laboratory space, and independent office facilities. Candidates holding dual appointments with affiliated hospitals or external research institutes will also receive additional research funding support. During the first three years of appointment, successful candidates will receive 6 dedicated PhD student enrollment quotas; 6 postdoctoral recruitment quotas; 1 dedicated Associate Professor position and 2 dedicated Assistant Professor positions. Living Support The University provides a substantial settling-in allowance. The amount is sufficient to support the purchase of a three-bedroom apartment in a high-end residential community near the University. In addition, high-standard talent apartments are available, adjacent to the University's affiliated kindergarten as well as its affiliated primary and secondary schools. The apartments are within a five-minute walk of campus and are fully furnished for immediate occupancy. Comprehensive educational support is provided from kindergarten through high school, with access to some of Dalian's high-quality basic education resources.
