About the role
The Columbia University Department of Psychology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position to begin on July 1, 2027. We seek applications from individuals studying human-centered Cognitive Science and/or Cognitive Neuroscience that complement current areas of expertise within the Department at the intersection of mind, behavior, computation, and artificial intelligence. Examples of research areas of special interest include perception, attention, learning and memory, cognitive control, language, curiosity, and higher-level cognition. Individuals with expertise in methods such as behavioral experiments, neuroimaging, computational approaches, patient studies, psychophysiology and/or individual differences will all be considered.
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of research productivity and teaching commensurate to the level of the faculty position. All candidates must have a strong publication record and have demonstrated the potential to establish a vigorous individual research program and to teach effectively using modern tools of instruction. Applicants for the positions must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field and have demonstrated an ability for pioneering research as well as the promise of excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates also must have the potential for future development as a scientist, scholar and teacher.
