About the role

Yale University seeks to recruit a faculty member at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level to Yale's interdisciplinary Energy Sciences Institute, which unites members of multiple departments. The Institute is one of several science and engineering initiatives located at Yale's West Campus, a 137-acre campus whose acquisition in 2007 has provided the University with unparalleled opportunities to expand its activities in cutting-edge research areas. We seek a creative scholar in the areas of energy conversion, energy storage, and/or energy sustainability who will have a primary appointment in the Department of Materials Science. Candidates should have an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions in the study of energy. The successful candidate is expected to initiate a vibrant research group, be an interactive member of the Materials Science Department, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027. Applicants should upload a cover letter; a curriculum vitae (CV); a statement of current and future research plans (up to 3 pages); a teaching statement (up to one page); and up to five reprints of papers published or in press. Applicants should arrange for three referees to upload letters of recommendation by November 9, 2026. Review of applications will begin on November 9, 2026, and complete applications received by this date will receive full consideration.
