About the role
Merck Research Laboratories is hiring an Associate Director of Data Science for its Functional Genomics & Predictive Modeling group within Translational Genome Analytics (Data, AI and Genome Sciences). The role leads computational and modeling frameworks spanning hit-calling for perturbational screens, multi-evidence target/drug-combination prioritization, and image analysis pipelines for high-content and optical CRISPR screens, integrating functional genomics, imaging, transcriptomics and proteomics data to guide the discovery portfolio. The successful candidate will build and scale computational methods for next-generation functional genomics (single-cell perturbation screening, cellular barcoding, lineage tracing) and apply modern AI/ML, including LLM-powered agentic workflows, while mentoring a team of scientists. Based in Cambridge, MA.
