About the role

Inversion Space Company is hiring an Avionics Embedded Software Engineer II to develop flight control software for its hypersonic reentry vehicles, spanning hardware interfaces through mission-critical flight applications. The role reports to the Director of Engineering, Avionics, and includes designing embedded software for flight computers and avionics subsystems, writing high-reliability C/C++ for real-time aerospace environments, developing board support packages/HAL/bootloaders/device drivers, board bring-up on processors and FPGAs, designing vehicle communication architectures (DDS, CoAP), running HIL verification campaigns, and supporting flight testing and mission operations. Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 2+ years in aerospace, defense, robotics, or high-reliability systems; strong C/C++; experience with bare-metal, RTOS, or embedded Linux; embedded communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS-422/-232/-485); Python for automation/tooling; and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret/Top Secret security clearance.
