About the position
The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB), Academia Sinica, invites applications for its Junior Research Fellows Program. The program enables outstanding early-career scientists to establish independent laboratories and pursue original research. Previous postdoctoral experience is not required.
Fellows will develop and lead independent research programs, build their research teams, and contribute to IMB’s collaborative scientific community. IMB provides dedicated laboratory space, intramural research funding and access to advanced core facilities. Fellows have no teaching responsibilities.
Research areas
We welcome applicants working in molecular, cellular, structural, chemical, systems and developmental biology, neuroscience, plant biology and microbiology. Interdisciplinary approaches and technology development are encouraged.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a relevant doctoral degree by the start of their appointment and have completed their doctoral training within three years of joining IMB. Candidates should demonstrate research achievement, originality and the potential to lead an independent research group.
Conference and application information
Prospective applicants are encouraged to participate in the IMB Early-Career Research Conference, taking place December 14–16, 2026, at Academia Sinica in Taipei. Participants will present their research, discuss proposed directions with IMB faculty, and explore the institute’s laboratories and core facilities.
Travel support and three nights of accommodation will be available to up to 30 selected conference participants.
