About the role
Inversion, an aerospace and defense company based in Playa Vista, California, is hiring mechanical engineering interns for Summer 2027 to work on its reentry spacecraft, Arc. Interns do hands-on engineering across the full product lifecycle, from CAD design and drawings through analysis, procurement, assembly, testing, and vehicle integration -- including designing mechanical systems, building 3D models and engineering drawings, running structural and thermal analysis, and supporting hardware test campaigns alongside manufacturing and integration teams.
Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, have CAD proficiency and a grounding in mechanical engineering fundamentals, and bring hands-on experience from coursework, projects, or personal builds. The internship is full-time and onsite for at least 12 consecutive weeks. California-based interns are paid $38-$41/hour, with actual pay varying by qualifications and experience. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents due to ITAR requirements.
