About the role

LMU Munich's Chair of Plant Systematics, Biodiversity and Evolution is recruiting a W2 tenure-track Professor of Computational Plant Systematics, using computational methods to study the evolutionary history, habitat adaptation, and/or taxonomy of plants. The successful candidate will build an internationally competitive, externally funded research program, contribute to bachelor's and master's biology teaching, and participate in faculty collaborative initiatives. Requirements include a university degree and doctorate (or equivalent), a strong research and teaching record, and demonstrated potential for an outstanding academic career; early-career scholars are especially encouraged to apply. The appointment is a 6-year initial term (convertible to permanent after 3 years with positive evaluation) starting April 1, 2027, paid on the German W2 professorial scale, with LMU's dual-career and relocation support available. Application deadline is November 11, 2026.
