About the role
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Scientist III / Data Scientist to help build a bioprocess digital twin for CHO cell culture and upstream bioprocess workflows (fed-batch and perfusion). The role involves developing predictive simulation models for nutrient depletion, metabolite accumulation, cell growth, productivity, and scale-up behavior, combining mechanistic approaches (stoichiometric/kinetic modeling, MFA/FBA, mass balance) with machine learning and Bayesian optimization. Responsibilities also include defining data strategy, model validation and governance practices, enabling virtual experimentation of feed/pH/temperature strategies, and supporting near-real-time bioprocess forecasting and deviation detection.
