About the role
Amgen is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its AI & Data for Engineered Biologics team within the Large Molecule Discovery organization. The role develops machine learning models connecting protein sequence, structure, biophysical measurements, and experimental outcomes to biomolecular developability, aiming to reduce trial-and-error in large-molecule drug discovery. Responsibilities include building protein language models, diffusion models, and other generative/foundation-model approaches on multimodal biological data, plus interpretable and uncertainty-aware modeling to guide experimental design via active learning and Bayesian optimization, in close collaboration with protein scientists and structural biologists. Requires a doctorate plus 4 years, or a master's plus 8 years, in a relevant computational field.
