About the role
Postdoctoral fellow position to study B cell physiology in Innsbruck Context: In the ”humoral immunity” group at the IBA institute of the University of Innsbruck, we are investigating the mechanisms controlling B cell development and function in young adult organisms as well as the changes in the latter processes leading to the reshaping of B cell physiology with age. Project/offer: You will be studying the contribution of miRNA-mediated regulation of protein synthesis to B cell responses in mice. The investigations will be carried out employing state-of-the-art tools, including conditional gene targeting, multi-color flow cytometry and cell sorting, present at the IBA, a major aging research center in Austria. You will also participate in teaching and mentoring students. The 3-year position comes with a salary before taxes of EUR 5014/month (14 months). You will be part of a multidisciplinary institute fostering interactions with other groups notably investigating cell metabolism and human immune cells. A start date from as early as beginning of October 2026 is possible. Profile: You should hold a doctorate or PhD in life sciences, e.g., biology, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, immunobiology or molecular medicine. Fundamental knowledge of and experience in immunology and mouse work is expected. Hands-on experience with methods in molecular biology or biochemistry is welcomed. You are dynamic, flexible, like to take initiative and enjoy teamwork as well as transmitting knowledge. Proficiency in English and German (oral and written) is expected.
