About the role

McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Biomedical Engineering, is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biosensing through the Canada Impact+ Emerging Leaders Program, starting no later than July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will establish an independent, internationally competitive research program in biosensing (molecular, cellular, chemical, or physical sensors; synthetic biology approaches; microfluidics integration; wearables; or machine learning-enhanced biosensing), pursue funding, mentor graduate students, teach at least one graduate course, and embed equity/diversity/inclusion principles in research design. Eligibility is restricted to candidates currently based and working outside Canada (as of July 4, 2026) who are within five years of their first research appointment (eligible leaves count double). A PhD is required by McGill. Applications (single PDF, max 5MB: executive summary, cover letter, CV, research statement, infrastructure needs, teaching statement, three references) are due November 1, 2026. The Impact+ program provides $100,000/year in research funding over six years, with possible extension.
