About the role

The School of Engineering and the Institute of Materials at EPFL are seeking a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to develop an independent research program in the theory and simulation of materials, using cutting-edge theoretical and computational approaches to understand, predict, and design materials. Areas of particular interest include electronic-structure theory and method development, large-scale calculations, multiscale simulations, and data-driven/machine-learning approaches to materials discovery. Candidates must hold a doctorate by the starting date and show strong potential for independent research, PhD supervision, and teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Expected start is late 2027/early 2028. Application deadline 1 December 2026; submit a cover letter, CV, research statement (max 3 pages), teaching statement (max 1 page), publication list, and 3-5 referee contacts.
