About the role

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is hiring a Postdoc for the Prevedel group to develop advanced three-photon microscopy instrumentation, with emphasis on wavefront shaping and adaptive optics for deep-tissue imaging in biological systems. The role involves designing optical components, implementing aberration-correction strategies, and collaborating with biologists to apply the new instrumentation to organoid biology and related research. Candidates need a PhD in physics, engineering, or an equivalent field, with a solid background in optics/photonics, preferably with prior experience in nonlinear/multiphoton microscopy and/or adaptive optics, experience building complex optical setups, proficiency with pulsed lasers and spatial light modulators, and programming skills (MATLAB, Python, LabView). The contract runs initially 2 years with possible extension and pays a EUR 4,237.89 monthly stipend (after tax), plus benefits and allowances.
