Queen Mary University of London's School of Engineering and Materials Science is hiring a Research Assistant for a 1-year fixed-term post on a UKRI EPSRC-funded project developing deep learning-coupled finite element simulation for fracture mechanics problems. Duties include building computational tools that integrate machine learning with finite element methods for solid mechanics and fracture modeling, supporting research administration, disseminating findings, and collaborating with the PI (Dr Sathiskumar Anusuya Ponnusami) and international partners at EPFL and the University of Florida.
Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline, experience applying machine learning and deep learning to mechanics/engineering problems, strong understanding of the finite element method, and good programming skills. Closes 20 October 2026.
