About the role
Genentech is hiring a Scientist 3 for its Immunology and Ophthalmology group (Sudharsan Lab) to develop human iPSC-derived retinal models and cell-based assays for validating targets and evaluating therapeutic candidates for age-related macular degeneration. Responsibilities include designing research strategies, maintaining rigorous experimental standards, collaborating across interdisciplinary teams, and presenting findings at conferences.
A PhD in stem cell biology, neuroscience, cell biology, developmental biology, or ophthalmology is required, with expertise in cell culture assay development, iPSC culture and differentiation, and a peer-reviewed publication record. Direct experience in retinal cell biology, AMD research, gene editing, omics technologies (single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics), 3D retinal organoids, or target-engagement/high-throughput screening assays is preferred.
