About the role

Tempus is hiring a Scientist II for its pharma R&D computational biology team (roles open in Chicago and New York) to work at the intersection of data science and AI with pharmaceutical partners. The role executes computational research on target discovery and biomarker development, performs statistical analyses integrating genomic, transcriptomic, imaging, and clinical data, incorporates LLMs and AI tools into research workflows, develops analytical methods for omics datasets, and communicates findings to technical and non-technical audiences. A PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, machine learning, or a related field (or a master's with 3+ years of experience) is required, along with proficiency in R and/or Python, SQL and large databases, and strong statistical and data analysis skills, plus knowledge of cancer biology, immunology, or disease mechanisms and experience with large-scale biological datasets (NGS, RNA-seq, genomics). Generative AI experience, survival analysis or causal inference expertise, a publication record, and drug-development knowledge are preferred.
