About the role
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a 12-month fixed-term position studying ferroelectric materials at the nanoscale, specifically the dynamics of polar nanostructures ("electric bubbles") that behave analogously to magnetic skyrmions. The work uses atomistic simulation methods — density functional theory, second-principles techniques, and machine-learned force fields — to understand how these bubbles form and can be manipulated.
Candidates need a PhD in condensed matter physics, materials science, computational physics, chemistry, or a related field, experience with atomistic modeling and scripting (Python, Bash) in Linux/HPC environments, and fluent English. Prior knowledge of ferroelectricity and molecular dynamics is a plus. Applications (motivation letter, CV, publication list, two references) go through LIST's online HR system only.
