About the role
Novartis is hiring a Senior Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain laboratory robotics supporting automated high-throughput screening (HTS) and automated cell culture in its Cambridge, MA discovery science group. The hands-on role spans electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, liquid handling, protocol development, and system validation/verification, with responsibility for adapting biological assays from manual bench work to fully automated HTS systems (experience with Biosero Orchestrator / Green Button Go scheduling software is a plus). The engineer also acts as project manager for automation projects, working with multidisciplinary scientist teams to improve throughput and reliability, and helps develop SOPs, maintenance procedures, and training for equipment users.
