About the role

36-month Research Software Engineer role at the Earlham Institute (Norwich) within Professor Ke Li's AI for Biology Group. The engineer will design and build an AI-agent platform for biological discovery, integrating AI models, scientific tools, datasets, and lab automation for hypothesis generation and experimental design, including agent orchestration, model interfaces, workflow execution, and retrieval-augmented generation. Requires a PhD or equivalent experience in CS/AI/ML, strong software engineering skills, CI/CD and HPC/cloud deployment experience, and familiarity with LLMs and tool-using agents; the senior grade additionally requires demonstrated technical leadership.
