About the role

The Pediatric Cancer Research Center of the TTUHSC School of Medicine (http://cancer.TTUHSC.edu) is recruiting for a physician-scientist to an Assistant Professor level, tenure-track position in the field of pediatric cancer developmental therapeutics. The new faculty member will be supported by and be a member of the Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer (TREC) Developmental Therapeutics Center at TTUHSC funded by the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). TREC faculty carry out translational and clinical research in cancer drug development and are funded by grants from CPRIT, the National Cancer Institute, and foundations. TREC faculty are supported by core resources for pharmacology, cancer animal models, a robust cancer biobank, and an early-phase clinical trial consortium (www.SPONC.org). The Children’s Oncology Group Childhood Cancer Repository (www.COGcell.org) located at TTUHSC provides patient-derived cell lines and xenografts to investigators in 30 countries.  COG resource labs for assessing telomere maintenance mechanisms and antibody binding to neuroblastoma patient samples are also located at TTUHSC as is the CPRIT-funded West Texas Pharmacology Core laboratory.  Examples of publications from TREC faculty: PMID: 31484706; PMID: 32291317; PMID: 32409685; PMID: 34408079. Investigators working in all areas of cancer developmental therapeutics, including small molecule development, immunotherapy, and biomarker development are encouraged to apply.  Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Clinical service time will be strictly limited, providing ample time for research. The primary appointment will in the Department  of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine with a concurrent appointment in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences to enable the recruiting of excellent graduate students from the Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology graduate programs.  Salary and start-up support are nationally competitive. Required Qualifications Medical Degree ABMS Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Oncology Preferred Qualifications PhD Current research efforts in cancer developmental therapeutics including small molecule development, immunotherapy and biomarker development.
