About the role
CIC nanoGUNE is recruiting Junior Group Leaders to conduct frontier nanoscience research and establish independent research programs, with an expectation that successful candidates will pursue external funding such as ERC Starting Grants or the Ikerbasque Research Fellow call, with a path toward permanent positions. The appointment is for 4 years and includes postdoctoral support to build and lead a research team.
Research areas span Quantum Nanoscience (quantum materials, quantum transport, quantum optics, quantum sensing, superconducting devices, topological systems, quantum hardware) and Nanomedicine (nanobiotechnology, biomolecular engineering, nanoscale biophysics, biomaterials, diagnostics, bio-inspired nanosystems). Candidates need a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, biology, or a related field, must be within the ERC Starting Grant eligibility window at the application deadline, and should have an excellent postdoctoral publication record with international research experience. Application deadline is October 31, 2026.
