Post-doctoral position (24 months): Paediatric leukaemias, bone marrow microenvironment and developmental origins of childhood leukaemias Join a team dedicated to understanding the origins of paediatric leukaemias We are recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team and contribute to an ambitious research programme dedicated to the biological mechanisms underlying paediatric leukaemias. This project aims to gain a better understanding of the early events leading to the onset of paediatric leukaemias, the interactions between leukaemic cells and their bone marrow microenvironment, and the developmental mechanisms that may underlie certain forms of the disease. The candidate will work in a stimulating scientific environment, as part of a dynamic team conducting fundamental and translational research in paediatric haematology. They will also benefit from close collaboration with researchers from the South Rock research consortium of excellence, which brings together leading teams specialising in the biology of childhood cancers, including leukaemias, and translational medicine. Research project: Despite the considerable progress made in the treatment of paediatric leukaemias, many questions remain regarding their origin and the mechanisms governing their development. The postdoctoral project will focus on three main areas: ● Unravelling the cellular and molecular mechanisms of leukaemogenesis in children; ● Understanding the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in the initiation, progression and response to treatment of paediatric leukaemias; ● Exploring the foetal and developmental origins of certain childhood leukaemias in order to identify the early events underlying leukaemic transformation. The project will draw on innovative approaches in cell and molecular biology, utilising in particular biological samples from patients, advanced cellular models, and cutting-edge technologies such as multiparametric cytometry, transcriptomics (single-cell and ATAC-seq), genome editing and bioinformatic analyses, depending on the candidate’s profile. The candidate must hold a PhD in biology, haematology, oncology, immunology or a related discipline. We are looking for someone with: ● solid experience in cellular and molecular biology; ● a strong scientific track record, evidenced by publications appropriate to their career stage; ● expertise in stem cell biology, haematology, genomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics or imaging, which would be an advantage; ● a good command of scientific English, both written and spoken; ● scientific curiosity, independence, rigour and a willingness to work collaboratively. ● Previous postdoctoral experience would be an advantage.
