About the role
Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres) is hiring a Postdoc to analyze supercritical CO2 fluid properties through experimental characterization, numerical modeling, and sensor development. Responsibilities include evaluating sources of impurities and breakdown products in sCO2 Brayton cycles, characterizing fluid properties of supercritical and subcritical CO2 in running systems and external devices, developing fluid property models, assessing measurement techniques, mentoring PhD students, and publishing research findings.
Candidates need a PhD in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, strong knowledge of thermodynamics and heat/mass transfer, proficiency in programming (MATLAB, SIMULINK, Python) or process simulators, and the ability to work independently in interdisciplinary teams. Start date is January 1, 2027; application deadline November 7, 2026. Pay follows the German public-sector TVoD-Bund collective agreement scale.
