About the role

The Palamara Group at the University of Oxford is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Statistical Machine Learning for Genomics, developing novel statistical and machine learning methods to study the genetic basis of complex traits — including genomic language models, multimodal learning, and federated learning — applied to biobank-scale genomic and health datasets. Responsibilities include developing scalable methods, implementing reproducible research software, evaluating statistical properties of new methods, preparing publications, and mentoring junior researchers. Applicants should hold or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in machine learning, statistics, computer science, computational biology, or a related quantitative field, with a strong foundation in statistical inference and method development and strong software engineering skills for large-scale data; prior genomics experience is desirable but not required. This is a full-time, 36-month post funded by the European Research Council.
