About the role

University of York (Department of Biology) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on insect synthetic biology, developing prime editors for genome editing in insect species, starting with model insects such as Drosophila before progressing to insect pollinators. Responsibilities include pegRNA design, novel enzyme variants, and molecular detection methods within Prof Luke Alphey's research group. The post is funded by ARIA (Advanced Research + Invention Agency) through the Accelerating Adaptation programme, fixed-term from September 2026 to August 2028.
