The University of Oxford's Department of Experimental Psychology is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Naturalistic Working Memory & Virtual Reality, a full-time, fixed-term (12 months) role starting November 1, 2026. The position researches sensorimnemonic decisions — how people decide between using information held in memory versus the external environment during extended, naturalistic behavior — developing experimental manipulations, analyzing behavioral data, and creating reusable tasks and code in collaboration with the Principal Investigators.
Candidates need a completed DPhil/PhD in experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or a related field, demonstrated experience designing and programming a fully operational virtual-reality object-copying task ready for immediate deployment, and substantial expertise building and maintaining immersive VR experiments in Unity or a comparable platform, including complex object interactions and behavioral logging.
