The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate (12-month fixed-term, full-time) to join the Mahad lab investigating neurodegeneration mechanisms in multiple sclerosis. The role involves characterizing mitochondrial function and mitochondrial DNA at single-cell level in an animal model of chronic neurodegeneration, collaborating with Professor Ken Smith at UCL and the Dementia Research Institute team led by Professor Siddharthan Chandran.
Experience assessing mitochondrial function and DNA at single-cell resolution in brain tissue is highly desirable, along with the ability to balance independent research initiative with supervised work. Hybrid working is available on a non-contractual basis. Closes 23 October 2026.
