About the role
University of Stirling, Institute of Aquaculture, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to validate camera-derived, AI-detectable welfare indicators of insensibility for Pacific whiteleg shrimp, rainbow trout, and carp, plus related sea lice detection work in Atlantic salmon. The role involves designing behavioural studies with video analysis, coordinating lab recording campaigns with human annotation of welfare states, and working with industry partners to specify, train, and evaluate AI/computer-vision models, including field deployments with UK aquaculture producers. Fixed-term until 30 September 2027; requires a PhD, fish welfare/behaviour experience, and proficiency in R or Python.
