About the role
BAM Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung is hiring a postdoctoral researcher (3-year fixed term) to study bacterial degradation of polyethylene. Responsibilities include cultivating bacterial consortia, running transcriptomic and proteomic analyses, optimizing degradation processes up through pilot scale, and publishing and presenting the findings.
Candidates need a PhD in microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field, with hands-on skills in bacterial cultivation, sterile technique, bioreactor operation, PCR/qRT-PCR, RNA/DNA handling, and proteome/metatranscriptome analysis, plus good written and spoken English. The role offers access to advanced digitalization training, university and industry networking, and modern lab infrastructure, with some possibility of mobile working.
