The University of Sussex's School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences is recruiting a Research Fellow to work on the EPSRC-funded project 'Numerical Analysis of Free Boundary Problems from Biology', led by Chandrasekhar Venkataraman and Philip Herbert at Sussex in collaboration with Thomas Sales at UCL. The role focuses on numerical analysis of Stefan-type free boundary problems on evolving surfaces, including developing numerical schemes and proving their convergence.
This is an 8-month, full-time fixed-term post starting as soon as possible. Candidates should hold (or be about to receive) a PhD in mathematics or a related field, with experience in numerical analysis and finite element methods for PDEs; experience with degenerate parabolic equations, free boundary problems, geometric PDEs, or software such as DUNE/Firedrake is desirable.
