About the role

Altos Labs is hiring a Scientist II to join Discovery Science in San Diego, working on in vivo and ex vivo disease biology to characterize and validate novel interventions for improving cell resilience and rejuvenating tissue function. The role develops and applies animal disease models, designs research strategies to identify causal regulators of cell state, aging, regeneration and disease biology, builds workflows linking genetic perturbation to molecular/phenotypic readouts (including transcriptome, proteome, and single-cell profiling), translates in vitro findings into hands-on mouse studies, and collaborates with computational scientists to integrate multidimensional datasets. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Aging, Physiology or a related field, hands-on small rodent handling with the ability to independently design and coordinate complex in vivo studies, expertise in physiologically relevant chronic disease mouse models, and experience with in vivo delivery modalities such as AAV or LNP. Background in aging biology, regeneration, fibrosis, or neurodegeneration, and experience with lung/kidney/liver disease models or ex vivo precision-cut tissue slices, is preferred. This is a San Diego, CA role; the posted Scientist II salary range is $143,800-$184,300.
