About the role

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is hiring a Scientist, Plant Biology and Functional Genomics for its Plant Biology Institute. The role involves identifying genetic targets and engineering strategies to modify plant cell growth, division, and morphology, translating biological hypotheses into testable genetic perturbations, and guiding interpretation of the resulting phenotypes. The scientist will work closely with the AI, Molecular Engineering, and Plant Transformation teams, and will contribute to publications and commercialization efforts. Candidates need a PhD in plant cell biology, plant developmental biology, biotechnology, genetics, functional genomics, or a related field, with experience testing mechanistic gene-to-phenotype hypotheses and knowledge of plant genetic modification approaches including genome editing. Application deadline is November 12, 2026.
