About the role

The Ellison Institute of Technology's Plant Biology Institute is hiring a Scientist to join its Cell Based Production programme, supporting the engineering of plant natural products for health and medicine. The role centers on class-targeted metabolomics of plant specialised metabolism: building customized chromatography/mass-spectrometry libraries, performing de novo structural elucidation of natural products, and running carbon flux analysis to support computational model-building, in close collaboration with EIT's AI and Robotics teams. Requires a PhD in organic chemistry, natural product biochemistry, plant molecular biology or a related field, with hands-on experience extracting, purifying and structurally characterizing small molecules (GC/LC-MS, NMR) and synthesizing analytical standards. The institute's wider mission is developing commercially sustainable solutions to improve global food production.
