About the role
The Department of Theoretical and Computational Biophysics (led by Prof. Helmut Grubmüller) at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen is recruiting a PhD student or postdoc in computational molecular biophysics. Applicants choose a focus area: variational free-energy methods, thermodynamics of solvation shells, constant-pH simulation methods, Markovian thermodynamics, or the functional mechanisms of the ribosome, fatty acid synthase, CRISPR/Cas, or intrinsically disordered proteins.
Requires strong skills in computational molecular biophysics, statistical mechanics and scientific computing; PhD applicants should hold or expect a Master's in physics, mathematics or a related field, postdocs a PhD in a similar discipline. Paid on the German public-service scale (TVöD Bund); PhD funding runs three years, postdoc positions up to two years with possible extension.
