About the role

The University of Hong Kong's Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (JC STEM Lab of Nanomedicine for Advanced Therapy, led by Professor Khuloud Al-Jamal) is hiring a Post-doctoral Fellow to work on an innovative lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing platform for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Responsibilities include designing and evaluating gene-editing strategies, formulating and optimizing lipid nanoparticles, conducting in vivo animal studies and behavioral assessments in mouse models, performing immunohistochemistry and molecular analyses, supporting transcriptomic studies, and contributing to manuscript and grant writing while supervising students. Candidates need a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, or bioengineering, with demonstrated expertise in CRISPR-Cas systems, LNP formulation, neurodegenerative disease biology, and cellular/molecular techniques. This is a one-year appointment (renewable based on funding and progress) in Hong Kong, offering a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications. Application deadline January 31, 2027.
