About the role
The University of Copenhagen's NIVI Research Center (Department of Immunology and Microbiology) is hiring a postdoc for the Strep A Vaccine Research Group to lead development and implementation of functional assays characterizing Strep A antigens and virulence factors. Responsibilities include designing, developing, optimizing, and validating biochemical, enzymatic, cellular, and immunological assays; molecular cloning, protein expression, purification, and characterization; developing opsonophagocytic killing (OPK) assays using human cell cultures; and managing the project independently while collaborating across a research consortium.
Candidates need a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field, demonstrated expertise in functional assay development and troubleshooting, a strong background in recombinant protein work and mammalian cell culture, and a proven publication record. Experience with bacterial pathogens, antibody-functional assays, and biophysical characterization techniques (SPR, SEC-MALS, CD spectroscopy) is desirable. This is a 24-month fixed contract (potentially extendable), 37 hours/week, starting February 1, 2027.
