About the role
The Taylor laboratory's Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate in Bioinformatics to study gene function in normal brain development and how developmental abnormalities contribute to brain cancer formation. The role involves building analytical strategies for single-cell transcriptomic datasets, analyzing whole-genome, whole-exome, ChIP-seq, and RNA-seq data, mining genomic data on tumor evolution and progression, presenting at national and international conferences, preparing publications, mentoring junior researchers, and developing new research protocols.
Minimum qualifications are an MD or PhD in basic science, health science, or a related field, with no experience required. Preferred candidates have a PhD/MD in biochemistry or cell biology with exceptional computational skills, an advanced degree conferred within the last three years, experience in brain development or cancer biology, large-scale genomic data experience, and first-author publications. Pay follows NIH stipulated stipend guidelines.
