About the role
The NIH-funded laboratory of Dr. Hsiao-Tuan Chao at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital) in Houston is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate to study neural circuit development, inhibitory neurobiology, cerebellar circuits, and synaptic dysfunction in conditions such as epilepsy, autism, ataxia, and leukoencephalopathies, with a focus on transcriptional regulation of inhibitory neuronal development. Responsibilities include designing and running specialized experiments, establishing new protocols, analyzing and publishing data, and maintaining lab operations with some supervision of research staff.
Minimum qualifications are an MD or PhD in basic science, health science, or a related field, with no experience required. Preferred background is in one of: electrophysiology and neural circuit analysis; transcriptomics and sequencing approaches; or developmental neurobiology, with additional preference for experience with hiPSC models or genetic model organisms such as mouse or fruit fly.
