About the role
The RADlab (led by Prof Antonio Elia Forte) in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Biomechanical Modelling and Wearable Robotics. The role focuses on computational modeling of wearable robotics to guide the design of assistive devices, developing musculoskeletal models to predict muscle forces and joint loads, simulating human-robot interaction, optimizing actuator placement and assistance strategies, and validating models against experimental data in collaboration with lab partners.
Candidates need a PhD (or near completion) in Engineering, Biomechanics, Robotics, or a related field, experience with musculoskeletal modeling and human movement simulation, and proficiency in tools such as OpenSim, AnyBody, Python, or MATLAB; a background in wearable or soft robotics and a peer-reviewed publication record are expected, with EMG processing, wearable sensors, or finite-element modeling experience preferred. This is a fixed-term role at Oxford running through May 31, 2028. Application deadline November 2, 2026.
