About the role
The Wallrath and Drack Laboratories, spanning the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, are hiring two postdoctoral researchers to study disease mechanisms and therapies for human vision disorders through foundational and translational research.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related discipline, and/or an MD with research experience; prior postdoctoral experience is not required. Preferred experience includes mammalian cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology techniques including CRISPR and AAV vector work, mouse handling, and ocular electrophysiology. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, managing cell cultures and mouse colonies, analyzing data, supervising junior staff, contributing to human clinical trial collaborations, and presenting findings at conferences. The position is full-time and permanent, closing November 24, 2026.
