The University of Manchester's School of Natural Sciences is recruiting a Research Associate in Indoor Air Quality, a 42-month fixed-term post based at the Energy House retrofit research facility. The role involves developing and leading indoor air quality research within retrofit environments, designing experimental protocols to evaluate retrofit products, materials and ventilation systems, conducting measurements at Energy House and project sites, deploying and maintaining sensor and atmospheric instrumentation, and coordinating with other researchers to connect air-quality and material-sustainability findings.
Candidates need a PhD (or equivalent) in atmospheric science or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience designing and running atmospheric measurement studies and strong quantitative data processing and QA skills. Indoor air-quality field experience, mass spectrometry techniques, and knowledge of building material emissions are desirable.
