About the role
The University of Manchester's Department of Materials is recruiting a Research Fellow in Sustainable Automotive Polymers to collaborate with The Vita Group on developing sustainable foam polymers for transportation. The role focuses on increasing recycled content and developing carbon-negative and carbon-neutral additives in polyurethane foams, assessing environmental impact and commercial viability, disseminating findings through high-impact publications and international conferences, and contributing to departmental teaching.
Essential requirements include a PhD in Polymer Science, Sustainability, Circular Economy, or equivalent, an internationally recognized research track record in sustainable polymer science, and well-developed skills designing postdoctoral research projects. Experience with life cycle assessment of polymers and translating innovation into industry (particularly polyurethane foams) is desirable. The role pays £47,389 to £58,225 per annum, depending on experience.
