The University of Bristol's School of Earth Sciences is recruiting a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Climate Science for an 18-month fixed-term post (1 Feb 2027 – 31 Jul 2028, Grade I/J, £33,906 to £50,253 per annum). The project develops a new ensemble ocean temperature profile dataset that fully characterises uncertainty from historical inter-platform biases, converting it into ocean heat uptake estimates in collaboration with US-based researchers (including a planned visit to the University of Colorado team), and contributes to surface temperature and sea-level rise projections with the Met Office and international partners.
Essential requirements are a PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant scientific discipline, strong Python programming and quantitative/data-analysis skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively; experience with version control (e.g. GitHub) and geophysical dataset analysis is desirable.
