About the role

Defense Unicorns is hiring a Software Engineer to join its Navy Forward Deployed Engineering team, owning the assessment, hardening, testing, and modernization of a government-provided software-defined networking (SDN) baseline. The work blends software engineering with systems/networking expertise: evaluating architecture and dependencies, remediating vulnerabilities, building test suites across unit/integration/end-to-end levels, and supporting CI/CD and container readiness within a DevSecOps pipeline. Requires 5+ years of software engineering experience with C++, Python, and Bash, strong Linux and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, TLS), and secure software development background. Candidates must hold an active US Government SECRET clearance or higher and be US citizens. Remote, United States.
