About the role

Ginkgo Bioworks is hiring an Automation Scientist Graduate Intern for its RAC (Reconfigurable Automation Cart) Operations team, based in Boston, MA (5 days/week on-site). The intern will operate and maintain modular robotic automation carts that form Ginkgo's autonomous "Nebula" frontier lab, queuing and monitoring programmatically generated protocols, analyzing run data, and over time learning to modify or write new protocols for molecular and cell biology workflows. The role also involves hands-on lab work such as preparing reagents and consumables and executing scientific workflows, with exposure to experimental design and workflow optimization for lab automation. Open to recent BS/MS graduates or those expecting to graduate in 2026/H1 2027 in computer science, bioengineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related engineering fields with an interest in lab automation.
