About the role
The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is hiring a Controlled Environment Lead to establish and oversee its Plant Biology Institute's growth and phenotyping facilities in Oxford. The role covers maintaining precisely controlled, reproducible growth-chamber and greenhouse environments, cultivating healthy plants, diagnosing pest and disease issues, overseeing planting through seed collection, managing phenotypic data collection, and ensuring regulatory compliance for work with genetically modified and transgenic plants.
Candidates need a PhD in horticulture, plant science, plant pathology, agronomy, or a related field plus 5+ years of hands-on greenhouse/controlled-environment experience, along with expertise in propagation, irrigation, environmental controls, IPM/biosecurity, and experimental design. High-throughput phenotyping, AI workflow, and statistical software experience are desirable, as is crop seed-production or field-trial background. Right to work in the UK (or sponsorship consideration) and residence in/near Oxford are required. Closing date is November 1, 2026.
