About the role
18-month fixed-term Research Associate role at Loughborough University studying the relationships between processing parameters, microstructure and material performance in laser metal additive manufacturing. Work includes sample manufacturing and metallographic preparation, powder characterization (particle size analysis, SEM), microstructural analysis (XRD, optical microscopy, SEM, EBSD), mechanical testing, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
Ideal candidates have experience with metal additive manufacturing, titanium alloys, microstructural characterization and mechanical testing, plus a track record of academic writing. Hybrid arrangement; informal inquiries to Prof. Moataz Attallah. Applications close 18 October 2026.
