About the role

Vulcan Elements manufactures American rare-earth permanent magnets for defense, aerospace, and automotive customers. The Controls Technician keeps the company's Durham pilot facility's PLC-controlled equipment reliable: diagnosing PLC, HMI, I/O, drive, instrument, and industrial-communication issues; implementing and testing routine ladder-logic, HMI screen, recipe, and parameter changes within an agreed scope; and documenting each change (reason, approval, version, test results) while working directly with the Pilot Operations Controls Engineer and two field Controls Technicians. Requires hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled industrial equipment and reading ladder logic, a high school diploma/GED, experience making and testing controls changes in a live production environment, and competency with a digital multimeter, soldering, and wiring. Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or Ignition SCADA is preferred. Based in Research Triangle Park, NC; candidates must be a U.S. Person due to export-control access requirements. No salary figure is published on the posting.
