About the role
Permanent position with the Paihau-Robinson Research Institute in Wellington, New Zealand, developing advanced technologies for the space sector, particularly applications of superconductors including Applied-Field-Magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters and re-entry heat shields, with emerging work in remote sensing. Requires a postgraduate degree (MEng/PhD) in Engineering or Science plus roughly 10 years of post-PhD experience in the space/aeronautics industry or research, a track record of writing research proposals and publications, and experience leading technical teams. Desirable expertise spans space-flight hardware design, electric propulsion, remote sensing, thermal/structural/electromagnetic simulation, and cryogenic and vacuum systems.
